Dances so smoothly on the surface, gliding away with no skates or board. Changing colour to suit he who looks at her, sparkling only when she is tickled to the fantasy of the possible. She is delicate to the point you can’t really touch her unless guided or observed. Yet, strong with an upper hand that states her worth in the world.
Her beauty is her knowledge, even belief of her inner abilities and stance in the world. She makes you respect her and believe along.
She is seen too often she becomes the background of your vision to daily life, not that she is not important but that she is a given substance.
When you drink from her essence, you never realise her strength can crush you. But as you see her fight mother nature’s orders, you wonder how her soul turn to roaring waves. She rarely converse, but she always repeats her proud persistence to life before leaving you hanging.
I did encounter her on a very rare occasion, when she was welling to inspire. Her movements and pride, stubbornness yet gentle feel as she argued her away with an obstacle amazed me. She looked at me for an instance and I felt my eyes fixed on her blue haze, guiding me to think.
She asked me: can you see yourself in me? And I carefully replied: I want to. Maybe you already have, she pronounced before gliding.
“Dripping water hollows out stone, not through force but through persistence.” ~ Ovid
I’d like my natural essence of choice to be her, water.
To be flexible in accepting others and binding like water according to situations in life, always humming my own music of persistence and courage no matter what.
To be stubborn in reaching my goals, but never without a purpose to every journey even those short ones.
To be delicate and gentle to never disturb others in my path and leave a kind smile as a signature of my passing.
To keep my true essence, but change colours according to the situation.
So here goes….SPLASH!
“Be like the sun for grace and mercy. Be like the night to cover others’ faults. Be like running water for generosity. Be like death for rage and anger. Be like the Earth for modesty. Appear as you are. Be as you appear.”
“Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?”
— Lao Tzu (Tao Te Ching)
