The beautiful object held its decorated arms, curves of metal that longed to reach out to the world, yet cautioning those about its dangers and the risk of wasting it.It does not know many people, only figures, whom it has to pass casually yet very delicately to not be a disturbing neighbour. Every time these arms move, they somehow whisper to those listening to it;either patiently, achingly, or nervously “in time my time”.

“sounds of life and movement, people getting ready and people giving up, the sound of hope and the sound of hanging on, and behind them all, the quiet, deadly ticking of a thousand hungry clocks…”     ~    Hunter S. Thompson

We were taught that such a precious thing is among few that could never be returned nor bought, yet we casually say: in time you will heal, in time you will reach your goal, in time boredom will pass…and those arms keep travelling, all on the same path, never-changing, never returning. They go in one direction, sure and slow, reminding us there is only one way to pass the time … to live.

“By (the Token of) Time (through the ages), Verily Humankind is in loss, Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.”  ~  (Quran 103:1-3)

To feel sorrow, to feel pain, to feel loneliness or to refuse change… they are all part of that time your using and those arms are moving! they perhaps understand but they could only wish for that battery to die, for them to stop, even if not fully, for you to grasp the steps and dance with these arms again…through life.

“You can have it all.  Just not all at once.”    ~  Oprah Winfrey

Those arms have taught me, that I can never assume how much time is left for me and just quote “in time” but I should join its movement around that dance floor of numbers, moving delicately through life towards the end.

Why do you still run when you could walk with me

Life will pass you by when you move as quickly

What can you see when you’re spinning around

Do you have a little time

Do you have a little time for me

If you should stop for a while

You will find me standing by

Over here at the side of your life

I like to hold you still, remind you of all you’ve missed

If you have a little time If you have a little time that is
